September is National Coupon Month. There won't be a parade or a holiday barbecue but it's a great reminder that coupons are free money.
Consumers save almost $3 billion through coupons, according to the Promotion Marketing Association's Coupon Council. The organization also says 10 minutes or less a week clipping coupons can save most families $7 each week on groceries alone.
I'm a huge fan of online coupons. I've found most of my favorite stores and manufacturers offer coupons online for clothes, toys, diapers, personal items like shampoo and toothpaste and money off the total order amount regardless of what you buy.
Spending a few extra minutes online can save you the most money. Check the websites of stores and the product manufacturer to see if they offer coupons.
My best coupon savings come from a national hobby store website. Every Sunday, the site updates with a new coupon. One week, you can save 25% and the next could be 40%. I patiently wait for the 40-50% off coupons.
Print the coupon, head to the store and practically steal craft items for you and your children. I always print two of the coupons to take with me. That way, I can use one and give the spare coupon to the person in line behind me.
To celebrate National Coupon Month, share your coupons with others too. Print a few extra copies of a store's online coupon or place a manufacturer's coupon right next to the product if you don't plan to use it yourself.
Everyone I've ever given an extra coupon to has always been appreciative. You won't meet many people who prefer to pay full price.

What a wonderful gesture, to print an extra coupon for a stranger–one of those random acts of kindness that we should all try to incorporate into our lives.
I’m a coupon clipper, but I haven’t really delved into the world of online coupons. Now I will!
I clip the coupons and forget them. My resolution for national coupon month will be to remember my system! Thanks for the reminder.
I passed this info on to my mom. She is always at the hobby stores, but had no idea they had online coupons.
I didn’t know that it was national coupon month – how cool is that? Maybe that explains why there are so many manufacturer’s coupons at http://www.capncoupon.com this month. Thanks for the great article, I will certaintly take many of these suggestions into consideration.
