Thurman plays Eliza Welsh, a mom of two who left her fiction writing career to become a stay-at-home mom. Now she's using her writing skills to run her mom blog.
A typical day of being a mom turns into a unique opportunity when Eliza discovers a parenting magazine is running a contest with a paid blogging position as the prize. Her 500-word essay on what motherhood means to her is due hours before the contest's deadline. And so she parents, plans her daughter's birthday party and writes for a dream blogging gig.
The storyline isn't just a Hollywood production, though. With the movie's release, Parenting magazine is running a Meaning of Motherhood Contest with a similar prize.
Motherhood's movie trailer shows scenes we can all relate to -- snarky moms, demanding kids and no time to do anything because you have to do everything. Despite critical reviews from USA Today and The New York Times, I'm looking forward to watching this movie. Between Thurman, Edwards and Driver, the stars have 7 children so I'm curious to see if the movie captures the essence of what it's really like to be a parent. An hour and a half of popcorn and "me" time is another irresistible perk.
Do you plan to see Motherhood? If you already have, what did you think of the movie?
