Thrifty Thursday: 8 Coupons to Make Thanksgiving Cheaper

Thursday November 19, 2009

Penny-pinching families have an extra reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving, even before taking advantage of coupon deals. The American Farm Bureau's annual price survey discovered the cost of Thanksgiving favorites, such as turkey, stuffing, cranberries and rolls, has dropped 4% this year.

Turkey is 3 cents less a pound. Milk is the winner for shoppers because it's 92 cents cheaper per gallon than this time last year. Add the typical family's Thanksgiving grocery bill and this year's meal will be about $1.70 less before coupons.

The price decrease won't fatten your wallet but there are other ways to save on top of the already lower prices. Besides clipping coupons out of the newspaper, you can find online coupons and search the store papers for special Thanksgiving bargains to save your family big money.

Here's a manufacturer's coupon roundup to make your Thanksgiving dinner cost even less:

Save $2 on a Butterball fresh or frozen turkey. Print the coupon at Butterball.com.

Prefer ham over turkey? HoneyBaked Ham is offering $10 off an 8 pound or larger ham. Just fill in your name, email address and zip code to receive your coupon.

BettyCrocker.com has 40 cents off au gratin potatoes. Many coupons for various Green Giant frozen vegetables are also available. Registration is required to print coupons, but free.

Birds Eye Foods has a $1 off coupon on its website. You have to install a free coupon printer program to get the deal.

Campbell's Kitchen has $1 off coupons on Campbell's soups, gravies, Pepperidge Farm Stuffing and Swanson chicken stock. Green bean casserole lovers can also pick up a 50 cent off coupon on French's French Fried Onions.

On HeinzGravy.com, you'll find a $1 off coupon on three jars of HomeStyle Gravy. You have to fill out a short form to print the coupon.

Idahoan.com is giving shoppers 75 cents off three packages of any Idahoan products. Look for "Print Coupon" on the upper right of the Idahoan website to fill out a short survey and start printing your coupon.

Visit Pillsbury's website to print coupons on crescent rolls, au gratin potatoes and more. You have to register to print but it's free.

Have a Happy, Thrifty Thanksgiving!

I love your blog! I found out about a site that I think your readers would really appreciate. It is http://www.theultimatecouponwebsite.com. It is not a site that has coupons/codes on it itself but it has a search engine that searches hundreds of coupon/deal sites. My friend who told me about it has saved hundreds from the discounts she found. It might be worth taking a look.
