L'amour is in the air and the average person is projected to spend $130.97 on candy, cards and gifts, according to the National Retail Federation. While the grown-ups are thinking romance and jewelry, there's plenty of fun for children to have as well.

Kids are dreaming of funny Valentine cards and lots of candy. Valentine's Day is a great way for them to celebrate the love of friends and family. And that's just what we do at my house.

So far, my boys have patiently made 56 Valentine's Day cards for their friends. They've already attended a great Valentine's Day party and eaten way too many pink cupcakes. Over the weekend, we baked heart-shaped cookies, crafted Valentine's Day gifts for the family, created homemade Valentine's cards and even tried our hand at making heart soaps.

I love diving into Valentine's Day activities with my kids. Sometimes it's hard to tell who's having more fun -- them or me.

What kinds of Valentine's Day projects have you enjoyed with your kids this year?
