Bonnie is a creative mom who shares her secret tips on crafts, food and more. She started her blog July 2, 2008.

Mom Blog Name:

Hands and Home

Why Did You Begin Blogging:

I started my blog as a way to keep track of the craft projects that I was working on and a way to keep myself motivated to do something just for me, so that I could in turn be a better mom. Since then it has changed into a way that I can remember what is going on in the "right now" of our family life. Be it craft related, food related, or baby related (ie. my youngest daughters first time rolling - I had to refer back to my blog to put the date in her baby book). My blog also gave me the strength and encouragement that I needed to branch out and start my own cottage industry business beebee buttercup.

Reasons for Being a Stay-at-Home Mom:

Two daughters

Before Becoming a Stay-at-Home Mom:

I graduated university with a degree in Sociology. I was working in a call centre trying to figure out what to do with my life career wise. It was after the birth of my first daughter that I found my true passion - natural childbirth and parenting. I then certified as a childbirth educator, and started a business from home making designer print handmade nursing covers, baby gifts and quilts.

Most Rewarding Part of Being a SAHM:

Seeing my girls grow up. There is so much that I would miss if I were away from them. Each day they grow and learn a little bit more and it is a joy to see it.

Biggest Challenge You Face as a SAHM:

Not losing myself. It is so easy to become overwhelmed with laundry, cooking, house chores, balancing the checkbook, finding educational and entertaining games for the girls etc. etc. I have to work really hard to find something to do that is just for me, that reminds me that I am more than "mama" - this is why I started my businesses. I was able to indulge in my passion, while not giving up on my dream to be a SAHM.

Best Advice for Other Stay-at-Home Moms:

Do something once a week that is just for you. It could be a dance class, scrapbooking evening with friends, coffee with your girlfriends - but whatever it is make sure it is something that you love.
