Guide Review - InStep Quick N EZ Bike Trailer

Straight out of the box, you have some minor assembly to complete before you can go on your bike ride. Once you unfold the InStep Quick N EZ Bike Trailer, attach and inflate the wheels and add your safety flag.

You'll add a universal coupler (included) to your bike so you can attach the trailer. You only have to do this once. After the coupler is installed, you can go on bike rides with or without the trailer. The coupler is a small plate that stays on your bike's back wheel.

The trailer attaches to the coupler with a pin that slides through a hole to secure it. You also slip a safety strap from the trailer around your bike's frame as a second layer of protection.

The trailer itself is a canopy made entirely of fabric, which is supported by a steel frame. The seating area is sling-style with a five-point safety harness.

The harness crisscrosses each child and feels secure. It's easy to buckle but unbuckling it will hurt your fingers. Even after years of use, unsnapping the buckles does not get any easier.

A mesh screen keeps the bugs out and a weather shield can be rolled up and out of the way on sunny days. If it starts to rain, unroll the plastic weather shield and fasten the velcro to the canopy to keep your children dry as you ride.

A cargo area in the back serves as a mini trunk. There's enough space for a blanket and food if you want to take the kids on a picnic.

When you're ready to roll, it only takes a few minutes to attach the bike trailer to the coupler and buckle your children in the seat. Kids will need helmets. The trailer is not meant to provide enough protection for children to ride without them.

The seating of the bike trailer is spacious for one child. It will feel cramped for two kids who are closer to the 100-pound weight limit.

As you ride, you can tell the trailer is behind you. But you won't feel like you're hauling a Mac truck.

Even when riding up hills, you can't feel the extra weight that much. The trailer is lightweight and glides over pavement, regardless of how much your children weigh.

The trailer can be converted into a double stroller in a few steps. Snap on a bar to push the stroller and add a small wheel (both are included).

The main drawback of using the trailer as a stroller is the front wheel sticks out a lot. You'll have to be careful when using it as a stroller or you'll run into things or hurt people. It's not a perfect double stroller but it serves its purpose for occasional use as one.

Children have to be at least 1 year old to use the InStep Quick N EZ Bike Trailer whether you're hauling it behind your bike or using it as a stroller. So if you're thinking of getting the product to use as a double stroller for babies and letting them grow into it for trailer use, you'll have to wait.

Overall, the InStep Quick N EZ Bike Trailer is a great option for families. It won't break the budget and it's a sturdy product. The downside of owning this trailer is that you'll constantly be stopped and asked where you got it.
