A stay-at-home mom works many jobs throughout the day. She's a nurse, chauffeur, chef, teacher, playmate, housekeeper, laundry attendant, accountant and babysitter all rolled into one.
She doesn't receive a paycheck for the 24 hours a day, 7 days a week she's on duty. She doesn't get a pay raise, sick days or 401K plans.
But a 2010 report from Salary.com says a stay-at-home mom would earn $117,856 a year for all the jobs she performs if she were paid. Moms in Canada would earn $132,288.
A SAHM may or may not have worked outside of the home before her children were born. Some stay-at-home moms plan on returning to work once the children are in school, they pick up a part-time job or they find work-at-home job opportunities. Others continue their role as a stay-at-home mom, managing the house and kids without returning to the workforce.
