August 7-8, 2009Items Exempt from Louisiana Sales Tax
For 2009, Louisiana allowed tax exempt purchases for "tangible personal property for non-business use" up to $2,500 per item. The tax exemption applied to purchases made during the sales tax weekend if:- Possession of the item is taken immediately
- The purchase is put in layaway
- The purchase is already in layaway but paid off during the tax free weekend
- The purchase is made during the tax free weekend but the store couldn't deliver the item immediately
