2014 Virginia Sales Tax Holiday

Back-to-School Savings Through Virginia's Sales Tax Holiday

The 2014 Virginia sales tax holiday applies to three different categories -- hurricane and emergency preparedness (typically in May), back-to-school shopping (August) and Energy Star products (generally in October). Dollar limits are per item.

Items put in layaway during the sales tax holiday are exempt from taxes. Items in layaway prior to the tax free weekend are not taxable as long as they are paid off during the tax holiday.

Neighbors Tennessee, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia also hold annual sales tax holidays.
