There's another reason right now is the time to reduce the clutter in your home. Your donation could be tax deductible, which could save your family money on your 2012 taxes.
We always make an end-of-the year run to a qualified charity. We get rid of items like clothes, books, toys and even furniture we're no longer using and donate them to a charity that either re-sells the items to raise money or distributes them to families in need. Not only is it a great lesson for our children, the side perk is that we actually manage to organize our home every year too.
