New Mexico's sales tax holiday covers clothing, school supplies, computers and computer equipment. Dollar limits are per item.

Neighboring states Oklahoma and Texas also offer sales tax holidays for back-to-school shopping.

Clothing Exempt from New Mexico Sales Tax

Clothing must be under $100 for:

Footwear Exempt from New Mexico Sales Tax

Taxable Items

Hair accessories, sporting goods, computer scanners, fax machines and handheld organizers do not qualify for the tax free weekend. The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department has compiled a list of guidelines for taxable transactions.
